What you can do on days you’re sick and don’t want to do anything at all

I have been having a awful lot of those days. I’m sick, I’m exhausted, myphone vitals are off and I can’t really do anything at all.

But when I was in the hospital for five weeks earlier this year, my doctor taught me something important that I have kept to ever since. The best way to get better is to distract yourself and do what you can.

And the truth is,my mind is always waaay ahead of my body so their conversation goes something like this:

Body:go into bed.now. you are sick,in case you didn’t notice.

Mind:but there are so many things I want to do! And so many things I need to do!

Body:the most important thing right now is for you to rest.nothing is more important then your health.

*lies down. Body feels guilty guilty and more guilty.*

Mind:no! I need to do stuff!

*gets up. Does things, gets even more sick*

*collapses into bed, unable to do anything for the next few hours.*

And so goes. The cycle again again and again. So let me tell you what finally worked for me. I discovered the power of microactions.

That means breaking the things you need into small chunks and decent  breaks to make them more manageable.

Let me give you a few examples so you can see what I’m talking about:

  • If I am doing laundry, I will take the clothes out of the hamper and put them somewhere to be sorted, break, Put underwear in its draw, break, put shirts on hangers, and then break and then keep doing that with each category of clothing
  • If I am cleaning my room, ill set a timer for every ten minutes, relax and then pick up 5 things every ten minutes.
  • If I need to write something, ill write it one paragraph, break, one paragraph break

Basically it comes down to these three steps.

  1. Set a timer for ten minutes from right now, or however long your break needs to be.
  2. Do something completely relaxing that will not make you sicker.
  3. When the timer rings, do just a little bit of what needs to get done

    What’s going on with me

Every so often, I develop severe allergies to something, this time it was being sick, and end upn getting such crazy spasms in either my throttle chest that I can’t eat of drink. We don’t have a actual treatment plan, because all the old ones worked for a little, and then failed, so its pretty much go to the er and they throw everything on me. If that doesn’t work, they admit me.its so awful, the dehydration, the unstable votals, the not being able to do anything..

Right now I can still eat as long as its tiny amounts at a time, but I can’t drink at all. I can’t do this again. I just can’t.and of course, all three of my doctors who can see patients on short notice are on vacation. Its like someone put out a memo :all doctors evacuate the area. The complex medical is coming.

But I have been in this impossible place so many times~and it takes a lot of work, tears, pain and suffering~but right now I know this i way too much for me to handle. So I’m handing this whole package to G~D-i know he will carry my thorough this-because he always has.and He can do anything. And He loves me so,so much.

What’s coming up:if you like this post, you will be happy to hear that its part of a series. Next coming up is about all kinds of relaxing activities you can do that can also help you feel better and restore your health.

My question to you is:what do you do on days when you don’t feel like doing anything?
